In Memoriam: Steve Jobs

Steve Jobs

Steve Jobs 1955-2011

“Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life, Don’t be trapped by dogma — which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.” – Steve Jobs

Today is a sad day for the worlds of technology, art, science, and innovation. We have lost one of our great mentors, fathers, brothers, and friends. Steven Paul Jobs has passed. He will be sadly missed.

Kalachakra 2011 – stage previs

In June of 2011, our friends at AllPlanet.com asked us to help do 3D pre visualization of the stage, lighting, pipe and drape, projection screens, and floor seating plot for the Kalachakra 20011 event to be held from July 6-16th at Verizon center in Washington DC. The goal was not only to work with His Holiness’s office to ensure proper arrangement of the throne, thangkas (tapestries), and mandala enclosure but also to help the technical team figure out precise line-of-sight for the camera angles and determine if seated audience members views would be obstructed. We used the overhead CAD drawing provided by the engineering team to determine scale and position of the stage and lighting truss and then brought that into Cinema 4D r12 to build the geometry and place the lights and cameras. Overall very few changes were made between the pre-vis and actual stage but most notably the left and right rear projection screens were lowered for better presentation to the whole arena. It was an absolute pleasure working with All Planet and His Holiness’s office in Dharmsala on this pre visualization and we look forward to doing similar projects for theatre and film in the future.
